Pre-Work Readiness Programme

IEC students from North Lake Senior Campus took part in a Pre-Work Readiness Programme funded by the LCP, facilitated by Marion Haas which spanned over 5 weeks, with students completing a total of 20 hours.

Students covered a variety of topic areas including: interviews, form-filling, finding jobs on the Internet, where to study after year 12, how to find work, job information, information about TAFE, going to Uni and TAFE and undertaking apprenticeships.

Each student received a certificate of participation and were given the opportunity to completed an evaluation form and also to provide verbal feedback on what they thought of the programme. Feedback was extremely positive and the students enjoyed getting some basic information which is often not covered in school like "What is TAFE?" and some of the more culturally sensitive issues like "Why do we shake hands with an interviewer?".

It is planned that a course outline will be produced for next year for any other schools who may have students with similar needs.

If your school would be interested in receiving such information then please contact your LCP Coordinator, Alice Williams on the number given (see bottom right of webpage).
