The training sector of the Australian screen industry is undergoing major changes through out 2008 as a new national training package is introduced bringing updated and revised qualifications and learning pathways.

Vocational Training programs that are delivered by Registered Training Organisations such as TAFE colleges and private training providers like the Film and Television Institute are based on a national set of standards and criteria. The current training package has been in operation since 2000.

The introduction of a new training package is a welcomed development in the screen industry which is moving rapidly into digital production and multi-channel broadcasting. The new ‘CUF07 Screen and Media’ training package also takes into account the massive amount of organisational and cultural change that is occurring in the industry as production models and job roles change.

The Film and Television Institute, and Screen Development Australia are embracing the challenge through a series of new internal initiatives.
